God Save the King; a Refresher Course.

Submitted by Rick Holmes, 55th Foot

I don't know about you, but every time I try to sing "God Save..." at formation I really don't know the words and have to kind of fake it. I know The Courier has published these words, "The Parting Glass" and "Chester before," but as a refresher to all of us, and to new members, here are all of the verses to "God Save the King:"

God save great George our king
Long live our noble king,
God save the king.
Send him victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us,
God save the king.

O Lord our God arise,
Scatter his enemies,
And make them fall:
Confound their politics,
Frustrate their knavish tricks,
On him our hopes we fix,
God save us all.

Thy choicest gifts in store,
On him be pleas'd to pour,
Long may he reign.
May he defend our laws,
And ever give us cause,
To sing with heart and voice
God save the king.

Lord grant that Marshal Wade
May by thy mighty aid
Victory bring.
May he sedition hush,
And like a torrent rush,
Rebellious Scots to crush,
God save the king.
